From ₹200 Per Policy to Powering India’s Digital Growth: My Journey(Abhishek Mudgal)

Starting a career isn’t always about passion—it’s about survival. For me(Abhishek Mudgal), it began with selling insurance door-to-door. No desk, no laptop, no comfort zone—just raw hustle and a relentless desire to grow.
I was earning just ₹200 per policy, walking from office to office, home to home, facing rejection after rejection. Most people didn’t even let me speak. But every “no” built my resilience.

The Hard Truth About Starting Small(Abhishek Mudgal)

Selling insurance is the kind of job that teaches you more about human behavior than any classroom ever will. I sold insurance policies to everyone — from auto drivers to corporate managers, from grocery shop owners to everyday workers — across places like Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Vapi and ahemdabad and many more.
I learned:

  • How to create trust in under 30 seconds
  • How to turn strangers into clients
  • And how to sell without selling

On most days, I sold 2–4 policies. But one day, I hit 16—a record at the time. That wasn’t luck. That was persistence meeting preparation.

The Turning Point

During one of my cold calls, I entered an office and managed to sell 8 policies in a single visit. Impressed, the branch manager asked:
“How much do you earn per policy?” “₹200,” I replied.
She paused and smiled, “Would you prefer a fixed salary?”
That was it. No CV. No formal interview. Just a job offer based on hustle. A week later, I had my offer letter.

Welcome to Corporate India

That company was Infomedia18, which later became GetIT Infomedia — the team behind AskMe.com, one of India’s early digital directories. I was part of the brand launching batch.
At Infomedia18, I sold commercial advertisements for Yellow Pages and TV18, participated in exhibitions, and later played a key role in the launch of AskMe.com. I was trained in Ahmedabad and soon took on a new role in training and development, traveling to Tier-1, Tier-2, and metro cities across India. I wasn’t just working anymore—I was building. Teams. Strategies. Growth engines.

From Products to Platforms

Shifting from selling ₹2,000 policies to pitching ₹5–10 lakh digital campaigns to CEOs wasn’t easy. But my roots in field sales taught me the power of conviction, storytelling, and long-term trust.
This experience laid the foundation for my work in:

  • Digital marketing strategy
  • Performance marketing
  • Growth consulting for startups and enterprises

Today, I help brands scale through my consulting platform AbhishekMudgal.com and lead a full-stack growth agency, TechSolvent, where we partner with businesses to build real, measurable growth engines.

What This Journey Taught Me

  • Start wherever you are. Even if it’s not perfect.
  • Master rejection. It teaches what success can’t.
  • Your energy sells before your product does.
  • Say yes before you’re ready. Then grow into it.

The Hidden Chapter

At AskMe.com, we were more than employees—we were warriors building something new. We worked relentlessly. No holidays—even on Diwali. We believed in the mission and gave it everything we had.
But here’s the twist…
One night, everything changed. The company—Getit Infoservices (AskMe.com)—shut down overnight.
No warning. No transition. Just a sudden end.

This Story Doesn’t End Here

I went on to join other corporates where I continued to learn, grow, and refine my expertise. The entrepreneurial journey didn’t start here — this was just the preparation.
There’s much more to come.
