Becoming an Entrepreneur Was the Worst Decision of My Life… Until It Wasn’t

Becoming an entrepreneur was the worst decision of my life.

Sounds strange, right?

But if you’ve ever thought about leaving your job to start something of your own, this story might feel very real.

The Life That Looked Perfect

I was working in a well-established organization, earning a good salary, and living in Mumbai the city many people dream of.

On paper, everything was perfect.

But my daily routine told a different story.

I was:

  • Generating significant revenue for the company
  • Creating strategies
  • Managing teams
  • Handling clients and relationships

Yet, something felt missing.

There was no real appreciation. No recognition. No sense of ownership.

Someone would assign targets and disappear only to return and ask for updates.

Even taking a day off required permission.

That’s when I realized:

Comfort doesn’t always mean satisfaction.

The Bold Decision

Driven by a deep sense of dissatisfaction, I made a decision that changed everything.

I quit my job.

  • No backup plan
  • No financial security
  • Just one goal freedom

The Reality of Freelancing

I started working as a freelancer in my domain.

Initially, it felt exciting:

  • Meeting new clients
  • Closing deals
  • Building something of my own

But very quickly, I faced the reality.

I became everything:

  • Salesperson
  • Marketer
  • Accountant
  • Project manager
  • Designer
  • Developer

There were days when I was chasing payments more than chasing growth.

Most of the time:

  • Clients delayed payments
  • Income was unstable
  • Earnings were lower than my previous job

My life turned upside down.

But surprisingly…

I was enjoying it.

Building Techsolvent

With time, I decided to build something bigger.

That’s how my company Techsolvent was born.

Now the responsibilities multiplied:

  • Hiring employees
  • Managing operations
  • Handling legal and financial compliance
  • Acquiring new clients

My workdays stretched to 10–12 hours or more.

There were:

  • Financial crunches
  • Loans and EMIs
  • Constant pressure

But there was also progress.

Growth, Recognition & Challenges

Slowly, things started falling into place.

  • I built a strong team
  • Worked with national and international clients
  • Earned recognition in the industry

Then came the pandemic.

Like everyone else, I faced uncertainty:

  • Clients left
  • Payments got stuck
  • New challenges emerged

But resilience became my biggest strength.

Becoming Who I Wanted to Be

Over time, I achieved milestones I once only dreamed of:

  • Recognized as one of India’s most creative digital marketing consultants
  • Invited to speak at events
  • Expanded my journey by starting The Power Speak

Today, I still work long hours.

But it doesn’t feel like pressure anymore.

The Reality of Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is not glamorous.

It’s:

  • Uncertain
  • Stressful
  • Demanding

But it also teaches you:

  • Discipline
  • Patience
  • Ownership
  • Growth

What once felt like a burden has now become a way of life.

Facing challenges every day?

Now, that’s the exciting part.

The Freedom That Makes It Worth It

Today, I have the freedom I once craved:

  • I decide my time
  • I travel without asking permission
  • I spend time with family and friends
  • There’s no limit to what I can earn

And most importantly

I’m building something that’s truly mine.

Conclusion

So, was becoming an entrepreneur the worst decision of my life?

Yes.

Because it broke my comfort zone.

It challenged me every single day.

But it was also the best decision I ever made.

Final Thought

Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone.

But if you’re willing to:

  • Take risks
  • Stay consistent
  • Embrace challenges

It can give you a life that no job ever will.
